Cambria to Barstow

What a fantastic sleep we all had.  It's hard to believe we've been here for a week already...we are well and truely settled in.
Bry got up bright and early and headed out to catch the sunrise.
The Pacific Coast line...American style.

When he came back in, we were all showered and ready for breakfast so we headed over to our complimentary brekkie and dug in.  The girls loved making their own waffles, I enjoyed a bagel and Mum and Bry had eggs and sausages.

Then we all headed across the road for our first look at the Coast. There were hundreds of seals enjoying riding the waves.

We think New Zealand is that way!!!

We headed back to our room, packed up and headed into Cambria for a coffee.  Unfortunately none of the shops opened until 10 but we still loved our drive down the main street.  Bry has decided that when we win big in Vegas, we're going to buy one of the homes there.

Gorgeous town

We headed off towards Bakersfield.  There wasn't really a whole lot to see...
Thank goodness for cruise control
Oil pumps

We drove through Bakersfield and decided to stop at Tehachapi for lunch.  Lauren had been looking for a Big 5 sporting store all week, and finally we found one.  The mission...one pair of Heelys (runners with a wheel in the back).  We walked away with 2 very happy girls as they both bought themselves a pair!
We came out of the shop to find it was snowing!  We decided to go to Taco Bell as it was just across the road.  It wasn't too bad, certainly filled a gap.
Bit of snow in the background
We kept driving and came across hundreds of wind turbines.
They went for miles
We finally arrived in Barstow and on the way to our Inn we stopped at more Factory Outlets (not for long though)
Crossing the relatively empty carpark to yet more shops.
We then went and checked in.  It was a lovely surprise to find out that on Thursday nights they provide a complimentary dinner-tonights was chicken nibbles (both bbq and spicy), potato and gravy, pork and beans and chocolate cake.  Not a vege in sight (although there was fruit).  We decided that we would eat in as it would be a saving in $.  It actually was really tasty.

Yet again we are pleased with our accommodation, the girls especially as there is an indoor heated pool here.
You can't have a holiday in California without having a swim!  They talked Bry into taking them for an hour or so while Mum and I used the guest laundry.

Tomorrow...Route 66!
