We left the hotel expecting thunderstorms and fully expecting to get wet during our visit to San Diego.....haha, not a cloud in the sky the whole day.
We arrived at the zoo, just on opening. Gotta love travelling during the American winter...so far the queues have been minimal. We are expecting Disney to be a lot busier though.
We had a fabulous look around. We saw so many animals that we had never seen before (and have forgotten the names of, but the real highlight was seeing the panda. He was just gorgeous...but not at all cuddly and soft apparently.

When we left the Sea, we headed straight for the USS Midway, a decommissioned aircraft carrier. It was commissioned in 1945 and the biggest conflict it was used in was the first Iraqi invasion. It was huge and really interesting. It was fascinating seeing all the different areas for the different personnel. Well worth a visit.
We had very sore feet by this stage and were very grateful we were going to be spending the next 1 and a 1/2 in the car on the way to Anaheim....which ended up being 2 hours thanks to the traffic.

We arrived at Howard Johnsons and by the time we had unpacked, it was 7pm so we decided to race over to Disneyland to get our tickets organised, ready for tomorrow. We got into the park, went and picked up our photopass so we could make full use of the Disney photographers, and then had just enough time for the girls to have one ride on the Astro orbitor. The park looked stunning, all lit up....especially the Castle. We're at DISNEYLAND!
By this time it was closing so we decided to head to Downtown Disney for dinner. What an amazing place. It had lots of entertainers and dancing.
We decided to get dinner at the Earl of Sandwich, similar to Subway, but waaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyy yummier.
When we got back to our room, we crashed! It was a full on busy day, but more of those to come.
Make sure you take the kids to the rain forest cafe downtown disney. Kids will love the food and setting. Go for the volcano dessert!
