San Diego...Sea World

I'm a bit worried about what time we are going to wake when we get home.  I can just see us all wide awake at 4am, thinking it's 7am as it is here.  Oh well, if that's the price we pay then it's not all bad.

We were up and ready to go by 8.30 this morning, but knowing that Sea World didn't open until 10, we decided to drive over to Coronado first up.  Tay loved driving over the bridge and decided that it was cooler than the Golden Gate bridge, because it was higher up and curved.

It was lovely driving through Coronado, very nice houses here.  We parked by the beach, near the famous Hotel Del Coronado and had a walk around.  The others wanted to know why we weren't staying there!

A familiar sight
It was really lovely.

We headed back over the bridge towards Sea World.
San Diego City

Navel dock yards
It was fairly quiet at Sea World, which was great.  We were able to see what we wanted and the queues for the rides weren't very long.  It did rain on and off during the day-one minute the sun would be streaming, the next, absolute torrential rain.  However, we knew that was what the forecast was for so we were prepared.

An absolute highlight was the Orca show.  It was incredible!!! And no, we weren't silly enough to sit in the wet zone.  Those that did got drenched.

An armadillo

A walrus.  We had no idea they were so huge....not particularly attractive either

Our polar bears coming out of hibernation

A Baby beluga whale

The penguins were fascinating

A puffin

This spun like the teacups at Disney, but also went up and down.  Yuck!

Piranha

The Manta ride.  Tays first 'real' roller coaster.  She loved it!

We had plans to head out to Old Town for dinner tonight, but got too cosy once we got back so decided that we would order in, so we ordered a large pizza...It was huge!  It was from a real Italian restaurant and it was delicious.
